Venue: Emirates Golf Club, Dubai. The Dubai Desert Classic is an annual professional golf tournament which takes place in Dubai. It has been part of the European Tour schedule since its inauguration in 1989, and was the first European Tour event to be staged in the Middle East. Except for the 1999 and 2000 editions, which were held at the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, it has been played on the "Majlis" course at the Emirates Golf Club. The event is noted for attracting some of the biggest stars in the world of golf. |

With prize money totalling US$1 million, the women's tournament is part of the WTA Tour and the men's is part of the ATP Tour and always produces some explosive matches. |
